Its hard sometimes not to be swept up in the utter silliness and hysterical nature of England's tabloids. Now England has some of the most celebral and interesting papers on earth- the Sunday times is almost a spiritual experience if you can get through it- but they also have the silliest and most insane tabloids you are ever likely to see. There's two groups- the ones which are silly and complete nonsense but know it (The sun' and 'The daily mirror' and even 'The star' which only barely qualifies as a newspaper) and the ones that take themselves very very seriously but are in reality a total piece of shit. These last ones are the ones with real entertainment value if you read them as a parody of an actual newspaper. Im thinking of 'The Daily mail' and 'The daily express'. Both consider themselves to be the moral beacon for the entire country and it was 'The mail' which had one of the funniest headlines of all time. It was simply 'WHY DO THEY KEEP LYING?' about the Blair cabinet. You cant get any funnier than that, but those bastards are dead serious. Or you get stuff like 'TWENTY MILLION IMMIGRANTS INVADING ENGLAND-LOCK UP YOUR DOORS!' and so many other anti-foreigners stuff like that and you are thinking-Who writes this shit? And does the editor really have their tongue planted firmly in their cheek? Because they cant possibly be serious.
But they are. They actually are.
