A few people have asked me why I carried around the name 'open up your eyes' on MSN messenger so let me clear this up once and for all because it is a cause close to my heart- third world poverty.
The line comes from the Coldplay song 'Politik' which is about unfair trade that keeps third world coutries mired in poverty. it's on their second album 'A rush of blood to the head' which is mind-numbingly brilliant.
This is what their CD booklet says about it 'For countries to develop or even to survive, they need to be able to trade fairly. At the moment poorer countries are strangled by ridiculous International trade laws and ruthless Western businesses keeping millions trapped in poverty and widening the gap between rich and poor'
