How on earth did he miss that?

I was privileged to watch something unique a week ago- something you see only once every one hundred years or so.
The greatest miss in the history of soccer.
Yes- Nwankwo Kanu from Nigeria missed from ONE YARD right infront of goal!
It was West Brom against Middlesbrough and it was the dying minutes of the game when the cross came. Kanu was standing right infront of the goal, completely unmarked- the goalie was about a hundred miles away. If he had so much as sneezed, the ball would have gone in- he was practically standing on the goal-line! Yet what happened next has all the worlds top scientists scratching their heads because it is completely inexplicable- he spooned the ball over the bar. Completely defying all laws of physics and common sense, he managed to miss an open goal. If you had lined up every single member of any given retirement home and given them a crack at that, they would have scored. Do you know how hard it is to hit the ball over the bar when you are standing milimeteres infront of an open goal? Picture yourself in that situation. You could try a million times, and you would still never be able to hit the ball over the bar from that angle like he did. Scoring would have been the only option no matter what you age, sex or health status. Yes, even YOU!
Quite simply, the worst miss I have ever seen in any sporting event. They are still replaying it on TV over here, because frankly it was too bizzare, words don't do it justice.
