John Mayer...

Someone lent me John Mayer's new album 'heavier things' which has the mind-blowing song 'clarity'. It has an awful lot of other good songs as well though including the only song I've ever heard telling fathers to 'be good to their daughters' aww...how sweet.
However one song was really banging away in my head because I couldn't figure out what he was saying. It had a great melody, but I couldn't hear the words and I just knew they were deep. I looked the song up and voila- its called 'The new deep'. Sample:

Cause ever since I’ve tried
Trying not to find
Every little meaning in my life
It’s been fine, I’ve been cool
With my new golden rule

Numb is the new deep
Done with the old me
And talk is the same cheap it's been

Of course I doubt Mayer is actually advocating living your life like this, but the truth is most people do- Living life on the most superficial levelthat is, and I guess it would make you happier if you stopped over-analyzing your life and just...well, chill. But would that be real happiness?
I think I'll ask the crew and post an update. Raymond won't know who the hell John Mayer is though, but Tesi is a fan.

robot toilets....

Yesterday when i mentioned Michelle Gellar I forgot to talk about the hilarious tale she told about struggling with a Japanese toilet. Apparently they have like 50 buttons and she didn't know which one was for flushing so she had to send a picture of it to her friend via mobile phone so her friend could tell her which button it was...Yikes, Japan does not sounds like a good place to take a dump!
Meanwhile the kenyaniyetu site is a riot- thank you Tesi for the link. I've been laughing my ass off for days now.

Haloween...

It's amazing how revered haloween is here..it's actually more popular than Christmas! The entire hall was excited except for yours truly. Went down to the bar for a bit, but no one I knew so I was bored fairly quickly. The costumes were top-notch though.
Anyway 'South Park' was on...Yes, I've seen the film at least six times but it never ceases to be funny. The juvenile in me is truly alive and kicking.
Sarah Michelle Gellar was on Jonathan Ross tonight- I had absolutely no idea she was that beautiful. Ross was fairly smitten himself "Just think what lovely children we would have" he joked after she left.
Later I somehow found myself watching a preposterous Charlie Sheen movie called 'Terminal velocity'. It was about as beliavable as Christina Aguilera's tan but it did have some good lines that I will share for posterity:
"She did for bullshit what stonehenge did for rocks"
"KGB? It's KG used to be!"
"A dead flight crew makes me very uncomfortable"
Anyway it's one in the morning as I write this. I'm going back to my Philip.K.Dick short stories collection. Did a lot of reading this afternoon so my conscience is clear.

just saying...

-Land law is the most utterly incomprehensible and boring thing ever-EVER! Forget the study of snail sporting events or Turtle's sex lives, this one really takes the biscuit.
-I really wonder what happened to that squirrel i saw a few days ago. As in seriously, whats the little bugger up to?
-Does the person who steals 'The Daily mail' from the TV room everyday really think they are doing us a disservice?
-I swear to God if i see that 'Change is good' McDonald advert one more time, bad things are going to happen.

Message to some lunatics...

Tesi: Please- in the name of all that is holy- Please spare me any more descriptions concerning a dodgy Rwandan guy in Canada and his relationship with his waistcoat.
Raymond: The story is almost done, I swear! But seriously, writing about long-distance relationships without employing cliches is about as easy as eating beans without subsequently becoming a flatulent machine, but I'll give it a shot.

" So what's new to you?"

Everyone has a 'happy' song...You know, the one you get up humming to and practically walk on air when you leave the house because its in you head and dammn it you feel good!
For the last week or so, that song for me has definetly been 'Pick a part that's new'...God bless the Stereophonics. many a morning has been a lot more bearable with that song banging away in my head.

where there are rats, there are cats...

"Millionaire" by Kellis and Andre 3000 is an utterly wicked song- one that has taken residence in my head and refused to quit but not in a bad way- I doubt Kellis will ever get this close to brilliance again. The song is almost derailed by Andre's bizzare rap at the end (where there are rats, there are cats/wherever there are cats there are dogs...) what the hell was he on about? Well he's Andre so I guess he could be forgiven. The song still rocks.
And there have been a rash of great singles lately. Another stunning song is 'Mary' by the Scissors sisters while Dizzee Rascal's 'Dream' is also a great track albeit very unconventional. Anastasia ('Sick and tired') and jamelia ('See it in a boys eyes') are giving pop a good name again and of course special mention for Eminem's latest bout of insanity 'Just lose it'. John Mayer's ' Daughters' Linkin Park's 'breaking the habit' and the Alicia keys/Usher duet 'My boo' round out my list. I bet in a few weeks, we will be back to the shit singles because it won't get this good for a while.
However Dishonorable mention for Christina Aguilera's 'car wash' which has made me smash up many a radio and Destiny's child's 'Lose my breath' which is something they obviously collaborated on while sleepwalking. Let's not even get started on Brittney Spear's death throes- that song sucked when Bobby Brown did it, but now its intolerable.

Dear world...

It has come to my attention that you are a crock of shit...Feel free to seek some therapy

Minega's world

I had no idea running a weblog would be this easy! As Abe Simpson would say 'hot diggity!'
Seriously this rocks...Now that I have a platform what should i do? Change the world? Discuss custard donuts? Insult all my friends? Now theres an idea- HEY RAYMOND YOU ARE A KNOB-END!
OK- juvenile ranting over. Deep breath. " Calm down dear- its only a commercial"
